Solar Outdoor Lighting
What then are the advantages of using this sort of outdoor lighting?
1/ You don't need an electrical contractor to lay wiring to location where you want to install the light. This has the potential to save you literally hundreds of dollars, particularly where you have a large property, and you wish to install the light some distance from your house, or other electrical outlet.
2/ The solar light won't cost you anything to run. That said it is probably important to budget on changing the battery at some point down the track (how long will depend on the quality of the light you buy, but if it lasts 5 years without too much loss of performance you should be very happy). This leads me to a tip when purchasing - make sure the battery / batteries are replaceable, as this should be the first item to deteriorate in your unit.
3/ The solar light unit can be easily moved should you decide down the track that you need it more somewhere else.
4/ You are being environmentally friendly by not using electricity from the grid to run the light, not using cabling that took energy to produce, and being retaining the flexibility to move the light should circumstances change, rather than installing a new one. One downside is the use of batteries which will ultimately require replacement and disposal, however the mentioned advantages still outweigh this disadvantage.
If this isn't enough to convince you then I will add my last reason for choosing an solar lighting unit.
5/ They can be given as a gift, that doesn't require spending another few hundred dollars on installation.
