Fliplite: Solar-Powered Concept Lighting System Looks Like A Ufo
Eco Factor: Lighting system powered by solar cells. You might be having tens of emergency lighting systems and torches, but in case of a power failure, they are either hard to find or are mostly out of batteries. Solar-powered lights do well when it comes to charged batteries, but they too can easily be misplaced, leaving you in the dark waiting for the power to return. Will McLeod has tried to answer both these problems with a new emergency lighting system that he calls the FlipLite.
What looks like a high-tech UFO from the latest sci-fi flick, the lighting system carries three solar panels on its three sides. Using light as a fuel, the solar panels keep the light charged, and when power fails, a faint blue glow emits from the electro-luminescent surface below. Just flip it upside and the motion sensors power up the main LED lamp beneath.
The Dark Side:
The light doesn’t look to be portable, which will make it easy to spot in case of a blackout but will make it equally difficult to store otherwise.
