Seagull Lighting
The Sea Gull Lighting story began at the workbench of a small lighting specialty store in Philadelphia, PA just after the First World War. Even then, Henry Siegel understood the value of continuity and variety. He used his design talents to create his hard-wired and portable fixtures, patenting them with an eye to the future. After World War II, servicemen returned home and wartime rationing ended. As a result, the market for every consumer product would explode with the demand for homes and household goods.
By then, the next generation of Henry Siegel's family was now involved in the business; but the company's total of seven employees and 3,000 square feet of factory space could not meet postwar appetites for lighting. The company's first major expansion cycle had begun, taking it into an 8,000 square-foot plant. Throughout most of the 1900s and beyond, the company has held firmly to its family roots. The Hirsch and Solomon families continue to lead a prosperous brand by maintaining a strong sense of the Sea Gull Lighting philosophy: design and build quality, fashionable products; give employees, distributors and builders the tools to succeed; be ready, always, to satisfy the market's tastes in décor.
The company he founded has stayed close to its family heritage of innovation and exacting standards. The Sea Gull Lighting brand is one of the oldest and best-known names in residential lighting
